There was an excellent turn-out to the Year 9 Options Evening on Thursday. The link to make selections will be sent towards the end of next week.

Thursday was also World Book Day. Pupils were invited to participate in a number of quizzes, games, competitions and events around the School – including a lunchtime Book Bar! Each pupil has been given a World Book Day token to spend on a book of their choosing – please do encourage a trip to the bookshop! Tokens will need to be used by the 31st of March.

Our PSFA work tirelessly to raise much needed funds for the School. Their activities last year raised £10,000. This has been used to fund new projects that will benefit all pupils over the months and years ahead. Items purchased recently as a result of PSFA funding include:

• A sound recording booth that can be used by pupils to record better quality podcasts in the Media Department. These are published on our website here.
• 26 new keyboards for the Music Department
• Two new water fountains – one for the Year 7 playground and one for use inside the School where pupils will be able to fill re-usable water bottles. This will hopefully encourage less reliance on environmentally unfriendly plastic bottles.

The last two have yet to be delivered but we hope to be using them very soon. If you have not yet supported a PSFA event please do as all funds raised will be used to benefit the pupils of Darrick Wood.

This week students in Year 12 have been giving speeches to stand for Head Boy and Head Girl. They all gave excellent speeches to their peers. The next stage is a vote and finally interviews with senior staff and the Head Teacher.

The PSFA will be holding a second hand uniform sale on Saturday, 23rd March (10-11.30am)

Year 10 Parents’ Evening is on Wednesday, 27th March, 5-8pm

Gym Production is on Wednesday, 3rd April
