UK Youth Parliaments’ Make Your Mark

UK Youth Parliaments’ Make Your Mark

Written by Jacob Eyers.

The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) are conducting a nationwide survey focusing on what they will campaign about over the next year. They are aiming for 1 million ballots this year. The 10 options available to choose from all effect young people in some way.

At the Bromley Youth Council we are in change of the ballot within Bromley. Our 2 UKYP reps will go to the House of Commons to debate and decide the campaigns. This will be televised on BBC Parliament on the 10th of November. In Bromley we broke our record and received over 7000 votes. Here are the top three results for Darrick Wood – ballot papers were put in registers and sent round to every form.

  1. A curriculum to prepare us for life
  2. Mental health
  3. First aid education for all young people
There were 20 spoilt ballots- 2%
The overall turnout was 55.5%
Next year we hope for even more votes on what was a very good turnout. Thank you for everyone’s help who made this schoolwide ballot possible.
