In a year which sees the introduction of new GCSEs and a new grading system in English and Mathematics, Darrick Wood School pupils and staff rose to the challenge and maintained the high standards we have come to expect. It has been another fantastic year for pupils, who gained an outstanding set of GCSE grades. 83% of pupils gained a 9 – 4 in both English and Mathematics. In English Literature, an impressive 7.5% of pupils gained a top grade 9, compared with 3.2% nationally. There were a considerable number of outstanding individual performances, including Chizute Ogbedeh who attained 3 grade 9s and 9 A* grades. Samantha Preston, Luis Munn and Francesca Groom obtained 12 A* and A grades, whilst Connor Abrahams, Millie Blake, Timira Ghoorbin, Grace Logan, Sophie Norman and Natasha White obtained 8 or more A* grades. Well done to all pupils and staff, whose hard work has clearly paid off.
