This year’s Gifted and Talented Evening encompassed a wider range of gifts and talents than ever before. Those who attended were able to start by looking round the Art exhibition with its wide variety of excellent work on show with an amazing range of styles. A Fashion Show was put on by the Textiles Department with a number of models having to make quick changes of clothing to exhibit the extremely diverse range of items on the specially created catwalk. Music followed with items from the many different musical groups which exist in the extra-curricular musical life of the School.
Once the final notes of the concert wafted up to the rafters those present were able to go to the Hall to experience more of the gits and talents of the student body. The variety of items was even greater than usual with the Gifted and Talented Drama and Dance clubs performing on the stage. There were opportunities to hear about a prize winning Year 8 Science team, to hear what the School Radio project had been working on as well as seeing some of the work of some of our talented young film makers. The quality of the creative writing which was read out by their creators was most impressive as was a winning entry a public speaking competition.
Amongst subjects represented for the first time was Photography with a fascinating insight in the the thought processes which go into producing high quality photos on a particular theme. Science and Psychology were amongst the subjects represented in the stalls which could be visited during the interval and there was a chance for those attending to question students positioned by their displays. The evening ended with an inspiring illustrated talk about the Duke of Edinburgh gold programme which allow a number of our students to develop and excel in a range of talents.
