Former pupil Alex Tait took time out of his busy schedule to talk to Year 10 Triple Scientists and A level Scientists about his work and life as a chemical engineer working for the oil giant BP. Alex who is currently based in Baku, Azerbaijan works as a process engineer on one of the largest oil production projects in the world. He talked about his experiences at Darrick Wood and how he was inspired to take up Chemical Engineering because it combined his love of both Chemistry and Physics. His work takes him all over the world including a spell on a North Sea oil rig! Alex answered pupils’ questions about his experiences which highlighted the many exciting opportunities that engineering qualifications can bring urging girls especially to consider a career in engineering.
