Parent Bulletin 04.10.19

This week

Thank you to all the students who helped make Open Evening another big success. It is their enthusiasm as guides and in Departments that demonstrates to prospective parents and their children the values we hold dear and the opportunities we provide as a school. There were two exceptional speeches from a Year 8 pupil (Thomas) and a Year 13 student (Olivia) that also made a significant contribution to the evening along with of course our fantastic staff. Judging by the numbers on the night and the many positive comments made, Darrick Wood will continue to be a very popular choice. Well done everyone.

Thursday was Tag der deutschen Einheit (German Unity Day). We flew the German flag to recognise and honour the significance of this to millions of Germans. Mr Wright, Head of German circulated a PowerPoint to Form Tutors to help our children learn about this significant world event along with the Youtube links below. (slightly entertaining cartoon depiction) (good description of the history of the two countries of East and West Germany)

Sporting Achievements

We are always interested in hearing about any pupils who are achieving in sport outside of school, perhaps at county level upwards. Please let the PE Department know via a note in the planner or by email/letter.
