On Monday, 18th April 2016 over 70 Darrick Wood pupils collected both bronze and gold awards at the annual Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Ceremony in the Civic Centre, Bromley. This year, Darrick Wood saw the highest pass rate of participants who completed their DofE in the borough. It was also a record number for Darrick Wood School! In order to be awarded with the Duke of Edinburgh awards, Darrick Wood pupils helped our local community, putting in a total of over 1,500 voluntary hours in the last twelve months. This is in addition to thousands of collective hours spent learning new skills and keeping fit. The pupils also had to complete a two-day, self-sufficient, overnight expedition in the Sevenoaks area, where they had to navigate their way around the countryside. There were many highs and lows throughout their individual journeys, but the struggles were definitely worth it in the end. Well done to all those involved!
