Brazilian Jazz for Year 8

Brazilian Jazz for Year 8

On Tuesday 17th January 8YM enjoyed a workshop and performance by John and Elisa Harborne as part of their study and performance of Brazilian Music.

John grew up in Orpington and rose to fame as one of our most eminent trombonists as a member of the jazz Orchestra ‘Loose Tubes’. He moved to Brazil in 2005 and since then has worked with some of the country’s finest musicians as a cavaquinho player and trombonist. His daughter Elisa, born and brought up in Brazil is a talented young singer.

8XB were able to listen to John talk about the music of Brazil. They then accompanied John and Elisa on percussion. The session was exciting, informative, and great fun for all involved.
