Chizute Ogbedeh – world class essayist

On Thursday, 1st December Chizute Ogbedeh was invited to a prestigious awards evening held at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Queen Mary, University of London. Dr Airey, Head Teacher, was amongst the invited guests privileged to hear Dr David Bainbridge from Cambridge University introduce the essay competition he had judged on behalf of the World Class Schools Organisation. Chizute’ essay was entered into the exclusive competition by English teacher Dr Rehling. His essay entitled ‘Discrepancies between the teenage and adult brain: Analysis of existing evidence and the rationale behind the chaos‘ was then selected from all of the many entries from schools across the World Class Schools network for special mention by Dr Bainbridge. Chizute did not quite win the first prize but he was presented with a special award for his effort in producing a truly world class essay. Already plans are afoot for next year’s competition and we hope Chizute has paved the way for many more entries from world class Darrick Wood School students in 2017. The School continues to strive to get the best from all of its students through opportunities open to it since it achieved the World Class Schools Quality Mark in 2015.
