Latest In assemblies this week we considered the theme of how instant is not always best. We reflected on how social media seems to be dominating lives currently and that the instant nature of this can prove to cause problems. We considered how over 800 years ago the Magna Carta, a very important document in our country’s history, did not at first improve the lives of most people and progress was slow. However, many years later and after much perseverance,…

This week Assemblies this week provided an opportunity to consider the history and tradition of Valentine’s Day. It was also emphasised how showing kindness and respect towards other people throughout the year is also important. The Head Teacher also shared with pupils the findings of our recent Ofsted inspection and congratulated them on their part in this. We were very proud of pupils in Year 11 as they completed an intense week of ‘pre-public examinations’ in many of their GCSE…

This week Assemblies this week have focused on the themes of success and courage. Sporting and academic achievements as well as the accumulation of wealth were all acknowledged as ways of measuring success. The idea of courage being a more valuable measure of success was introduced by Mr Eynon using the story of Jean Vanier, the founder of L’Arche. L’Arche is an international federation of communities across the world for people with learning disabilities. Jean Vanier showed great courage when…

This week We returned to school for the rather optimistically named spring term and despite the long nights and no doubt cold wintry weather yet to come I hope the long Christmas break has ensured everyone is well rested and exited for all that 2019 will bring. Today (Friday) pupils in Year 11 attended a special assembly and then collected their mock results. The countdown to the real examinations is now on and we wish everyone well for these. They…

This week Our annual Carol Service at St Paul’s, Crofton was one of our best ever. The church was full and everyone enjoyed a mix of traditional and modern music together with nine lessons read by pupils and staff. We are grateful to the PSFA who prepared and served mince pies and mulled wine afterwards. This, together with the amazing performances by our students more than made up for the terrible weather outside. This week, Year 7 received a brand…

This week This week has been dominated by the start of Year 11 mock examinations. We have made good use of our extended dining facilities to allow pupils to line up in the dry before going into the Main Hall. With one more week to go, everything has run smoothly so far. We know this first taste of what it feels like to take public examinations is an important step towards the summer, but understand it can be very hard….
