Congratulations to all Year 11 students who obtained another set of fantastic GCSE results and maintained the high standards we have come to expect. There were a number of outstanding individual performances, including three students who obtained eight or more grade 8 and 9 GCSEs. Darrick Wood School Wins Radio Drama Award

Staff and students at Darrick Wood School in Orpington are celebrating after winning an international radio drama award for one of their extra-curricular media projects. In January 2018 the school set up an audio blog to post weekly content including audio plays, short stories, original music and podcasts recorded by its pupils. UK International Radio Drama Festival 2019

DWS Audio is proud to announce that two of our audio plays have been included in the UK International Radio Drama Festival 2019. One of Our Exercise Books is Missing and Free Fall will be showcased on Thursday 21st March at Café Nero in Canterbury, the venue for this year’s festival. The plays will also be available online via the radio drama festival website, where you can listen and vote for your favourite play. Mr Chappell

Congratulations to those who took part in the UK Polar Network Flags Competition. A number of successful entries made it to the Antarctic, where they were proudly displayed and photographed by the scientists who were working there!

Congratulations to all who entered the inaugural Darrick Wood School Christmas Card Competition. The standard of entry was extremely high, with many excellent pieces commended for their effort.  The first place was given to Oliver Watson, followed by Aqil Ahmed and Angela Veickovska in third place.  Congratulations!

We are delighted that two students have been chosen to exhibit at the V&A Museum of Childhood as part of the Take pArt Challenge competition. A huge congratulations to Amber Blake & Georgia Barnard for having their art work shortlisted. All submissions will be judged at a private show, held at the V&A Museum of Childhood on the 29th November. Congratulations from the Art Department and all at Darrick Wood School  

National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day

For National Poetry Day this year, Ms Tibbs hosted a ‘Poetry Breakfast’. Students were encouraged to bring a poem along; one that they love or had written themselves. Students and staff shared the poetry aloud whist quaffing croissants, coffee and other breakfast goodies. On Monday 29th October our Year 12 A level Drama students and a selection of our Gifted and Talented Year 9 pupils will be performing at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford as part of this year’s Shakespeare Schools Festival.  They will be performing an adaptation of The Tempest which has been directed by our A level students as part of their course.
